Ingredients
Cake:
1 cup Coca Cola (not diet)
1/2 cup oil
1 stick butter
6 tablespoons cocoa
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Frosting:
1 stick butter
3 tablespoons cocoa
6 tablespoons cream or milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 3/4 cups confectioner’s sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 13×9 inch baking pan.
- In a saucepan, mix Coca Cola, oil, butter, and cocoa. Bring to a boil.
- In a bowl, combine sugar, flour, and salt. Pour the boiling cola mixture over it and beat well.
- Add eggs, buttermilk, baking soda, and vanilla. Beat until smooth.
- Pour into prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes.
- For frosting, combine butter, cocoa, and milk over heat. Stir in vanilla and confectioner’s sugar. Spread on warm cake.
Notes

Can substitute buttermilk with a mixture of milk and lemon juice/vinegar.
