Ingredients

For the Shrimp:

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

1/2 cup buttermilk

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup cornstarch

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Oil for frying

For the Sauce:

1/2 cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons sriracha sauce

1 tablespoon honey

1 tablespoon lime juice

1 teaspoon soy sauce

Garnish:

Chopped green onions

Sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Shrimp:
    • Marinate the shrimp in buttermilk for 15-20 minutes.
    • Mix flour, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper in a separate bowl.
    • Heat oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
    • Remove shrimp from buttermilk, dredge in flour mixture, and fry in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
  2. Prepare the Sauce:
    • Whisk together mayonnaise, sriracha sauce, honey, lime juice, and soy sauce until smooth.
  3. Assemble the Dish:
    • Toss the fried shrimp with the spicy sauce in a large bowl.
    • Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
  4. Serve:
    • Serve immediately as an appetizer or over rice or salad.

Notes

For a milder sauce, reduce the amount of sriracha or add more honey.

Ensure the oil is at the right temperature to achieve crispy shrimp.

Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated in an oven or air fryer.
