Quick to prepare and customizable with your favorite ingredients, it’s a must-have recipe.

Ingredients

4 large russet potatoes, peeled and sliced thinly

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or a mix of cheeses)

1 1/2 cups heavy cream (or milk for a lighter version)

1/2 cup sour cream

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

3 tablespoons butter

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)

1 tablespoon fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

    • Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
    • Stir in flour to form a roux, cooking for 1 minute.

    • Pour half the sauce over the potatoes and spread evenly.
    • Sprinkle half the cheddar and Parmesan cheese.
