Description

This Easy Chicken & Dressing Casserole is a comforting Southern-style dish made with tender shredded chicken, creamy soup, buttery cornbread stuffing, and savory seasonings—perfect for cozy dinners or holiday leftovers.

Ingredients

3 cups cooked chicken, shredded

1 (10.5 oz) can cream of chicken soup

1/2 cup sour cream

1/2 cup chicken broth

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon dried sage (optional)

2 cups cornbread stuffing mix (or crumbled cornbread)

1/2 cup melted butter

1/2 cup chopped celery

1/2 cup chopped onion

Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté chopped onion and celery in 1 tablespoon of butter for about 5 minutes until softened.
  3. In a large bowl, combine shredded chicken, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, chicken broth, black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and sage.
  4. Stir in the sautéed vegetables.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix the stuffing mix with melted butter until well coated.
  6. Spread half of the stuffing in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  7. Layer the chicken mixture evenly over the stuffing base.
  8. Top with the remaining stuffing mixture.
  9. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  10. Uncover and bake for another 10–15 minutes, until the top is golden and crispy.
  11. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes, garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve.
