Ingredients

1 1/2 cups milk

1/2 cup sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

3 tablespoons cocoa powder

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 egg yolks, beaten

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 baked pie shell

Cool Whip or whipped cream (for topping)


Instructions

  1. Heat Milk: In a medium pot over medium heat, warm the milk.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: Combine sugar, flour, salt, and cocoa powder in a bowl.
  3. Combine: Add the dry mixture to the hot milk, stirring constantly until thickened.
  4. Temper Eggs: Add a small amount of the hot mixture to beaten egg yolks, stir, and then pour back into the pot, stirring constantly.
  5. Cook: Continue cooking for at least 2 minutes.
