Ingredients
40 saltine crackers (enough to line a standard baking sheet)
1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped nuts (pecans, almonds, or walnuts) or festive sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil and grease lightly. Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer.
- Make the Toffee
- Melt butter and brown sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly.
- Once boiling, cook for 3-4 minutes until thickened slightly.
- Pour the Toffee
- Pour the hot toffee mixture over the crackers and spread evenly.
- Bake
- Bake for 5-7 minutes until the toffee is bubbling.
- Add the Chocolate
