Description
A smooth, rich, and slightly tangy frosting that is perfect for cakes, cupcakes, or any sweet dessert. It’s easy to make and has a velvety texture with the perfect balance of sweetness and tang.
Ingredients
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups powdered sugar
1 tablespoon milk (optional, for thinning)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together until smooth and creamy.
- Add the vanilla extract and continue beating until well combined.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, beating on low speed until incorporated. Once all the sugar is added, increase the speed to medium and beat until smooth.
- If you prefer a thinner consistency, slowly add the milk, one teaspoon at a time, until you reach your desired texture.
- Use the frosting immediately to frost cakes, cupcakes, or any of your favorite desserts.
Notes
Store leftover frosting in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Allow it to come to room temperature before using again.
For a lighter texture, whip the frosting slightly after it reaches room temperature.
If you prefer a less sweet frosting, reduce the powdered sugar to 1 1/2 cups and adjust to taste.
If making ahead, store it in an airtight container in the fridge and use within 3-4 days.
For piping decorations, reduce the milk for a stiffer consistency.
