Ingredients
2 pounds fresh plums, pitted and chopped
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Plums
- Wash, pit, and chop plums into small pieces.
- Combine Ingredients
- In a large saucepan, mix plums, sugar, and lemon juice. Let sit for 15 minutes.
- Cook the Jam
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently. Reduce heat and simmer for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Mash or blend for a smoother texture if desired.
- Test Consistency
- Perform the wrinkle test by spooning jam onto a chilled plate. If it wrinkles, it’s ready. Otherwise, cook a few more minutes and test again.
- Cool and Store
- Remove from heat, cool slightly, and transfer to sterilized jars. Seal and let cool completely before refrigerating.
Notes
For a spiced version, add 1/4 teaspoon of ground cloves or nutmeg.
Try a vanilla-infused variation by adding 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
Combine with peaches or berries for a mixed fruit jam.
