Ingredients
For the Pinwheels:
1 (8 oz) can crescent roll dough
1/2 pound (225g) thinly sliced roast beef
1 cup (100g) shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary (optional)
1 tablespoon melted butter
For the Au Jus:
1 cup (240ml) beef broth
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unroll crescent roll dough and press seams to form a rectangle.
- Spread Dijon mustard evenly over the dough. Layer with roast beef and shredded cheese.
- Roll dough tightly from one long edge, then slice into 1-inch thick pinwheels.
- Place pinwheels cut-side up on the prepared sheet. Brush with melted butter, sprinkle with garlic powder and rosemary.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown.
- For the au jus, combine beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a saucepan. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Serve pinwheels warm with au jus for dipping.
Notes
Use parchment paper or a lightly floured surface to prevent sticking when rolling the dough.
Customize by using different cheeses or adding herbs and spices.
For a thicker au jus, add a cornstarch slurry while simmering.
