Description

Flaky crescent rolls filled with tender roast beef, melted cheese, and Dijon mustard, served with a rich au jus dipping sauce. These French Dip Roast Beef Pinwheels are a quick and easy crowd-pleaser, perfect as appetizers, snacks, or light meals.

Ingredients

For the Pinwheels:

1 (8 oz) can crescent roll dough

1/2 pound (225g) thinly sliced roast beef

1 cup (100g) shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary (optional)

1 tablespoon melted butter

For the Au Jus:

1 cup (240ml) beef broth

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1/4 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll crescent roll dough and press seams to form a rectangle.
  3. Spread Dijon mustard evenly over the dough. Layer with roast beef and shredded cheese.
  4. Roll dough tightly from one long edge, then slice into 1-inch thick pinwheels.
  5. Place pinwheels cut-side up on the prepared sheet. Brush with melted butter, sprinkle with garlic powder and rosemary.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown.
  7. For the au jus, combine beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a saucepan. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  8. Serve pinwheels warm with au jus for dipping.

Notes

Use parchment paper or a lightly floured surface to prevent sticking when rolling the dough.

Customize by using different cheeses or adding herbs and spices.

For a thicker au jus, add a cornstarch slurry while simmering.
