Description

Ingredients

1 cup long-grain white rice

2 tbsp butter

1 medium onion, thinly sliced

2 garlic cloves, minced

2 cups beef or vegetable broth

1 tbsp soy sauce

1/2 tsp dried thyme

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)


Instructions

  1. In a large skillet or saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add sliced onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until caramelized and golden brown (15-20 minutes).
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Stir in rice and cook for 2-3 minutes, letting it lightly toast with the onions and butter.
  4. Pour in broth, soy sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes, or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  6. Remove from heat and let sit, covered, for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired, and serve warm.

Notes
