Ingredients

1/2 cup peanut butter (natural or regular)

1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce

1/4 cup pure maple syrup or honey

1/4 cup coconut sugar or brown sugar

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/4 cup oat flour (or almond flour for grain-free)

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/3 cup chocolate chips (plus extra for topping, optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C) and grease or line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, stir together the peanut butter, applesauce, maple syrup, coconut sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Add the salt, cocoa powder, oat flour, and baking soda, stirring until a thick, even batter forms.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips and spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan. Sprinkle extra chips on top if desired.
  5. Bake for 20–22 minutes, until the center is just set and a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  6. Let the brownies cool completely before slicing to ensure a fudgy texture.
