Description
These fudgy peanut butter brownies are rich, moist, and made with wholesome ingredients like peanut butter, applesauce, and cocoa powder. Naturally sweetened and vegan-friendly, they’re a healthier twist on a classic dessert.
Ingredients
1/2 cup peanut butter (natural or regular)
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/4 cup pure maple syrup or honey
1/4 cup coconut sugar or brown sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 cup oat flour (or almond flour for grain-free)
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/3 cup chocolate chips (plus extra for topping, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C) and grease or line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, stir together the peanut butter, applesauce, maple syrup, coconut sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
- Add the salt, cocoa powder, oat flour, and baking soda, stirring until a thick, even batter forms.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan. Sprinkle extra chips on top if desired.
- Bake for 20–22 minutes, until the center is just set and a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Let the brownies cool completely before slicing to ensure a fudgy texture.
Notes
Swap oat flour with almond flour for a grain-free version.
Use sunflower seed butter for a nut-free alternative.
Add extra chocolate chips or a bit more maple syrup for a sweeter brownie.
Mix in chopped nuts or swirl extra peanut butter on top before baking for added texture.
Use different chips like white chocolate or peanut butter for variation.
