Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed

1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

1/2 cup canned green chiles, drained and chopped

3/4 cup buttermilk


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and garlic powder.
  3. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and chopped green chiles until evenly distributed.
  5. Add the buttermilk and stir just until the dough comes together. Avoid overmixing.
