Description

A comforting and savory casserole made with ground beef, green beans, and a creamy sauce, all baked to perfection for a hearty meal.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 medium onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 cups green beans, steamed or frozen

1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup

1/2 cup milk

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup crispy fried onions (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking for another 2-3 minutes until softened and fragrant.
  4. Stir in the cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, and pepper, mixing until well combined.
  5. Add the green beans to the mixture, stirring to coat them in the sauce.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and spread it out evenly.
  7. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Optional: Top with crispy fried onions and bake for an additional 5 minutes until the onions are golden and crispy.
  9. Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Vegetarian Option: Skip the ground beef and use lentils or mushrooms for a meatless version.

Spicy Version: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or some chopped jalapeños for extra heat.

Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating: Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes or microwave individual portions for 2-3 minutes.

Freezing: Freeze the casserole before baking for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator and bake as directed.
