Description

Crispy honey butter fried chicken combines golden fried chicken with a rich honey butter glaze, delivering a perfect balance of savory and sweet flavors. Perfect for family dinners, gatherings, or an elevated take on comfort food.

Ingredients

For the Fried Chicken:

1 lb chicken thighs or drumsticks

1 cup buttermilk

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp paprika

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup cornstarch

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)

Vegetable oil for frying

For the Honey Butter Glaze:

1/4 cup unsalted butter

1/4 cup honey

1/2 tsp garlic powder

Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Chicken:
Combine buttermilk, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper in a bowl. Toss the chicken to coat evenly, cover, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight for more flavor.
  2. Prepare the Coating:
Mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder, cayenne pepper (if using), and a pinch of salt in a separate bowl.
  3. Heat the Oil:
Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Coat the Chicken:
Dredge chicken pieces in the flour mixture, pressing to ensure an even coating. Shake off excess flour.
  5. Fry the Chicken:
Fry in batches for 12-15 minutes until golden, crispy, and cooked through (internal temp: 165°F/75°C). Drain on a wire rack or paper towels.
  6. Make the Glaze:
In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in honey, garlic powder, and salt until smooth.
  7. Glaze the Chicken:
Brush or drizzle the glaze over the chicken while it’s warm. Serve immediately.

Notes

For extra crispiness, double-dip the chicken in buttermilk and the flour mixture before frying.

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days and reheat in an oven or air fryer to maintain crispiness.
