Description

Creamy Honey Butter Mashed Sweet Potatoes are a perfect blend of sweet and savory flavors. This easy side dish combines tender sweet potatoes with rich butter, honey, and a hint of cinnamon. Perfect for holiday dinners or cozy weeknight meals, this recipe is a delicious way to enjoy the natural sweetness of sweet potatoes.

Ingredients

3 lbs sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks

1/4 cup unsalted butter

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup milk (more as needed)

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Place peeled and chunked sweet potatoes in a large pot and cover with water.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce to a simmer. Cook until sweet potatoes are tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Drain the sweet potatoes and return them to the pot.
  4. Add butter, honey, milk, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
  5. Mash with a potato masher or electric mixer until smooth and creamy. Adjust consistency with more milk if needed and season with additional salt to taste.
  6. Transfer to a serving bowl and serve warm, garnished with extra butter and honey if desired.

Notes

For a vegan version, replace butter with plant-based butter and use almond milk.

For added texture, top with toasted pecans or marshmallows.

Can be made ahead and reheated before serving.
