Description

Honey Sesame Chicken is a quick and flavorful dish featuring crispy chicken in a sticky, sweet, and savory sauce. Perfect for weeknight dinners, this recipe is ready in just 30 minutes using simple pantry ingredients. Serve over rice for a satisfying meal the whole family will love!

Ingredients

For the Chicken:

1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts (cut into bite-sized pieces)

2 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)

1/4 cup cornstarch

Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Sauce:

1/3 cup honey

3 tbsp soy sauce

2 tbsp rice vinegar

1 tbsp sesame oil

1 tbsp garlic (minced)

1 tbsp fresh ginger (grated)

1 tbsp water (optional, for thinning)

1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)

23 green onions (chopped, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken:
    • Cut the chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces. Season with salt and pepper.
    • Toss the chicken pieces in cornstarch until fully coated.
  2. Cook the Chicken:
    • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
    • Add chicken in batches, avoiding overcrowding. Cook for 4-5 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
  3. Make the Sauce:
    • In the same skillet, sauté minced garlic and grated ginger for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
    • Stir in honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Simmer for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened. Add water if needed to adjust consistency.
  4. Coat the Chicken:
    • Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Cook for 2-3 minutes until glazed.
  5. Serve:
    • Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve over steamed rice or alongside vegetables.

Notes

Add spice with red pepper flakes or sriracha.

Make it gluten-free by using gluten-free soy sauce or tamari.
