Description

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

3/4 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional)

1/2 cup milk

1 cup sesame seeds


Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugar: Beat softened butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  4. Incorporate Eggs and Extracts: Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in vanilla and almond extracts.
  5. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Stir until just combined.
  6. Shape Dough: Roll dough into 1-inch balls and shape into small logs.
  7. Coat with Sesame Seeds: Roll each log in sesame seeds, pressing gently to adhere.
  8. Bake: Arrange logs on a prepared baking sheet, leaving space between them. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until lightly golden.
  9. Cool: Transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For softer cookies, reduce the baking time by 2-3 minutes.

Use salted butter if desired but omit the added salt.

For variety, add citrus zest, chocolate dip, or spices like cinnamon.
