Description

Bring the nostalgic flavor of the KFC coleslaw recipe into your kitchen with this easy, creamy, tangy side dish. Ready in just 15 minutes, this copycat slaw features crisp cabbage, sweet carrots, and a buttermilk-based dressing that’s perfect for picnics, barbecues, or fried chicken dinners.

Ingredients

1 medium green cabbage, shredded

1 medium carrot, grated

1/4 cup onion, finely chopped

1/2 cup mayonnaise

1/4 cup buttermilk

2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

1 tablespoon lemon juice

2 tablespoons sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, grated carrot, and chopped onion.

  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, buttermilk, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, sugar, salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy.

  3. Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture and toss until evenly coated.

  4. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for 1–2 hours to allow the flavors to meld.

  5. Serve cold as a side dish with fried chicken, barbecue, or burgers.

Notes

For a spicier twist, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce.

Sub plain yogurt for part of the mayo for extra tang.

Grated apple or red cabbage adds sweetness and color.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

No reheating required—just stir and serve cold.
