Description

Crispy baked fries seasoned with bold Cajun spices, topped with creamy ranch dressing and a luscious cheese sauce. These Louisiana Voodoo Fries are a zesty, Southern-inspired snack or side dish, perfect for game-day or dinner. They’re irresistibly cheesy, flavorful, and easy to customize.

Ingredients

Fries:

6 medium russet potatoes

2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

12 tbsp Cajun seasoning

¼ cup creamy ranch dressing (plus extra for dipping)

Cheese Sauce:

2 tbsp butter

2 tbsp flour

⅔ cup milk

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fries:
    • Wash, scrub, and pat dry the potatoes. Peel and slice into fries (¾ inch wide and 3 inches long).
  2. Steam the Potatoes:
    • Boil 1 quart of water and season with 3 tbsp salt.
    • Steam the sliced potatoes for 10–12 minutes until tender but firm.
  3. Coat and Bake:
    • Transfer steamed potatoes to a bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and toss to coat.
    • Arrange fries in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake at 450°F for 10 minutes, rotate the pan, and bake for another 5–10 minutes.
  4. Make the Cheese Sauce:
    • Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in flour until smooth. Gradually add milk, whisking continuously. Stir in cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
  5. Assemble:
    • Sprinkle Cajun seasoning over baked fries, toss gently, and drizzle with ranch dressing and ¼ cup of cheese sauce.
    • Serve with extra cheese sauce and ranch for dipping.

Notes

For crispier fries, soak potatoes in cold water for 30 minutes before steaming.

Use pepper jack cheese for a spicier kick.

Swap russet potatoes with sweet potatoes for a sweeter alternative.

Air fry at 400°F for 15–20 minutes as a healthier cooking option.
