Fries:
6 medium russet potatoes
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1–2 tbsp Cajun seasoning
¼ cup creamy ranch dressing (plus extra for dipping)
Cheese Sauce:
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp flour
⅔ cup milk
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Prepare the Fries:
- Wash, scrub, and pat dry the potatoes. Peel and slice into fries (¾ inch wide and 3 inches long).
- Steam the Potatoes:
- Boil 1 quart of water and season with 3 tbsp salt.
- Steam the sliced potatoes for 10–12 minutes until tender but firm.
- Coat and Bake:

- Arrange fries in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake at 450°F for 10 minutes, rotate the pan, and bake for another 5–10 minutes.
- Make the Cheese Sauce:
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in flour until smooth. Gradually add milk, whisking continuously. Stir in cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
- Assemble:
- Sprinkle Cajun seasoning over baked fries, toss gently, and drizzle with ranch dressing and ¼ cup of cheese sauce.
- Serve with extra cheese sauce and ranch for dipping.
Notes
For crispier fries, soak potatoes in cold water for 30 minutes before steaming.
Use pepper jack cheese for a spicier kick.
Swap russet potatoes with sweet potatoes for a sweeter alternative.
Air fry at 400°F for 15–20 minutes as a healthier cooking option.
