Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
Granulated sugar, for rolling (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and maple syrup until light and fluffy.
- Beat in egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Optionally, chill dough for 30-60 minutes if too soft to handle.
- Roll tablespoon-sized portions of dough into balls. Roll each ball in granulated sugar if desired.
- Place dough balls on prepared baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden. Centers may appear soft but will firm as they cool.
- Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
