Description
Bazlama, a traditional Turkish flatbread, is soft, fluffy, and requires no oven to make. This easy, stovetop bread is made with just three ingredients—flour, yogurt, and salt—perfect for pairing with dips, soups, or turning into sandwiches. Quick and simple, Bazlama is the ultimate comfort food that can be made in under 30 minutes. Serve it warm with a brush of butter or olive oil for an irresistible treat.
Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup plain yogurt
1 teaspoon salt
Optional: butter or olive oil for brushing
Instructions
- Make the Dough: In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add the yogurt and mix until a soft dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Divide the Dough: Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and roll each into a ball. Cover with a cloth and let rest for 10 minutes.
- Roll Out the Bread: On a floured surface, roll each dough ball into a ¼-inch thick circle.
- Cook the Bread: Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place a dough circle in the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes, or until bubbles form. Flip and cook the other side for 1-2 minutes until golden brown. Repeat with the remaining dough.
- Serve: Brush each bread with melted butter or olive oil if desired. Serve warm with dips or as a side to your meal.
Notes
Resting Time: Allowing the dough to rest for 10 minutes helps the bread stay soft and easy to roll out.
Flavor Variations: Add garlic powder, dried herbs, or sesame seeds to the dough for extra flavor.
Storage: Bazlama can be stored at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerated for up to 5 days. It can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
