Ingredients
For the Dough:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 pinch salt
For the Nut Topping:
1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup granulated sugar
2 tbsp water
1 tbsp vanilla extract
2 cups chopped hazelnuts or almonds (or a mix of both)
For the Chocolate Dip:
1 cup dark or semi-sweet chocolate, melted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Prepare the dough: Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg, vanilla, and salt, mixing well. Gradually add flour and baking powder to form a smooth dough.
- Press dough evenly into the baking pan.
- Make the topping: Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in sugar, water, and vanilla until smooth. Fold in chopped nuts.
- Spread the nut mixture evenly over the dough.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown. Cool completely.
- Cut into triangles and dip corners into melted chocolate. Let chocolate set before serving.
Notes
Use parchment paper to ensure easy removal from the pan.
Substitute hazelnuts or almonds with walnuts or pecans for a unique twist.
For a decorative finish, drizzle white chocolate over the bars after dipping.
