Ingredients

1/2 green cabbage, shredded

2 carrots, shredded

1 teaspoon olive oil

2/3 cup soy sauce

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon ground mustard

1 teaspoon ground ginger

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

16 oz spaghetti (1 pound box)

3 1/2 cups water

1 tablespoon sesame seeds


Instructions

  1. Heat a large pot over medium-high heat. Add olive oil, shredded cabbage, and carrots. Sauté for about 5 minutes, or until vegetables are tender.
  2. Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, ground mustard, ground ginger, and garlic powder. Mix well.
  3. Add spaghetti and 3 1/2 cups of water to the pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium. Cook uncovered for 15-18 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add an extra 1/2 cup of water if needed until noodles are tender and sauce has thickened.
  4. Remove from heat and toss in sesame seeds. Serve immediately, garnished with additional sesame seeds and green onions if desired.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free soy sauce or tamari and gluten-free noodles.

Customize with additional vegetables like bell peppers or snap peas.
