Ingredients

For the Crust:

1 box yellow cake mix

1 egg

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

For the Topping:

1 lb (about 4 cups) powdered sugar

3 eggs

1 block (8 oz) cream cheese, softened


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, 1 egg, and melted butter until well blended. Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the crust. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, beat together the powdered sugar, 3 eggs, and softened cream cheese until smooth and well blended.
  4. Pour the cream cheese mixture over the crust, spreading it evenly.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set but still slightly jiggly.
  6. Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

For cleaner cuts, refrigerate the bars for about 30 minutes before slicing.
