Ingredients
1 loaf French bread, cut into cubes
4 large eggs
1 cup milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
2 cups diced peaches (fresh or canned)
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
Powdered sugar for dusting
Maple syrup for serving
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon.
- Add the bread cubes to the mixture, stirring gently to coat. Let it soak for 10-15 minutes.
- In a medium bowl, combine diced peaches, brown sugar, and ground nutmeg. Stir to mix well.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a muffin tin or line it with paper liners.
- Fill each muffin cup halfway with the soaked bread mixture.
- Add a spoonful of the peach mixture to each cup, then top with more bread mixture.
- Drizzle the melted butter over the top of each muffin cup.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the French toast bites are golden brown and set.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm with maple syrup.
Notes
Ensure the bread cubes are soaked well to achieve a moist texture.
Adjust sweetness by adding more or less sugar according to taste preference.
Use fresh peaches when in season for the best flavor, but canned peaches work well too.
