Ingredients
1 cup peanut butter (creamy or chunky)
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar, packed
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 large eggs
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup chocolate chips (milk or semi-sweet)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, mix peanut butter, unsalted butter, and brown sugar using a hand mixer or stand mixer until smooth and creamy. Add vanilla extract and eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Slowly add dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing until fully combined.
- Add Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
- Bake: Spread dough evenly into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until edges are golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool and Serve: Allow bars to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then cut into squares and serve.
Notes
If you prefer a crunchier texture, add chopped peanuts or walnuts to the dough.
For a richer peanut butter flavor, swap some of the chocolate chips for peanut butter chips.
Make these bars vegan by using dairy-free butter and flax eggs (1 tbsp ground flax + 3 tbsp water per egg).
For a gluten-free version, use a gluten-free all-purpose flour blend.
