Description

Add a burst of tropical heat to your meals with this Pineapple Habanero Hot Sauce. Combining sweet pineapple with fiery habanero peppers, this homemade sauce is perfect for grilled meats, tacos, and more. With its tangy lime juice and a hint of garlic, it delivers a delicious balance of sweet and spicy flavors.

Ingredients

2 cups fresh pineapple, chopped

23 habanero peppers, stemmed and seeded (adjust to taste)

1/2 cup white vinegar

1/4 cup lime juice (about 2 limes)

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 small onion, chopped

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon honey (optional for sweetness)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Chop pineapple, stem and seed habanero peppers, mince garlic, and chop onion.
  2. Sauté Onion and Garlic: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add a small amount of oil. Sauté onion and garlic until softened and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Combine and Simmer: Add pineapple, habaneros, vinegar, lime juice, and salt to the saucepan. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Blend the Sauce: Let the mixture cool slightly, then blend until smooth. Adjust consistency with more vinegar or water if needed.
  5. Adjust Seasoning and Sweetness: Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt or lime juice. Add honey if desired, and blend again.
  6. Bottle and Store: Pour into sterilized bottles or jars. Cool completely before sealing. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 weeks.

Notes

Handle habanero peppers with care, wearing gloves to avoid skin irritation.

This hot sauce can also be frozen in ice cube trays for longer storage.
