Description

These Salty Maple Brown Butter Blondies combine the rich, nutty flavor of brown butter with the deep sweetness of maple syrup and a sprinkle of sea salt, creating a perfectly balanced sweet and salty treat. The addition of white chocolate chips adds an indulgent touch.

Ingredients

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/4 cup maple syrup

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon sea salt (for topping)

1/2 cup white chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter, stirring occasionally. Let it cook for 5-7 minutes until golden brown and nutty. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. Whisk in the brown sugar and maple syrup until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  5. If using, fold in the white chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Sprinkle the sea salt evenly over the top.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs. The edges should be golden brown.
  8. Let cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

If you don’t have white chocolate chips, you can omit them. The blondies will still be delicious.

If you prefer a gluten-free version, substitute the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend.

You can store the blondies at room temperature for up to 4-5 days or refrigerate them for up to a week.

To freeze, wrap in plastic wrap or foil and store in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
