Description

Sweet, gooey, and irresistibly rich, these Seven Layer Magic Bars are made with layers of graham cracker crust, chocolate and butterscotch chips, coconut, and nuts, all held together by sweetened condensed milk. A classic, easy-to-make dessert perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs

1 cup sweetened shredded coconut

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup butterscotch chips

1/2 cup chopped walnuts (or pecans)

1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix the melted butter and graham cracker crumbs. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form a crust.
  3. Sprinkle the shredded coconut evenly over the crust.
  4. Add layers of semi-sweet chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, and chopped nuts, distributing them evenly.
  5. Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the entire surface to bind the layers together.
  6. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
  7. Let cool completely before slicing into bars.

Notes

For a nut-free version, simply omit the walnuts or pecans.

Try adding white chocolate chips or dark chocolate chunks for variation.

Sprinkle sea salt on top before baking for a sweet-salty finish.

Add crushed peppermint or a swirl of peanut butter for seasonal twists.

Bars store well at room temperature for up to 5 days, or freeze for longer storage.
