Description
Slow Cooker Fried Apples are tender, buttery apples simmered in a rich cinnamon-brown sugar sauce. This comforting dish is perfect as a side, dessert, or topping for pancakes, waffles, or ice cream.
Ingredients
6 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional: 1/2 cup apple juice or apple cider
Instructions
- Place the peeled, cored, and sliced apples into the slow cooker.
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, granulated sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the apples.
- Drizzle the melted butter, lemon juice, and vanilla extract over the apples. Add apple juice or cider if using.
- Gently toss everything to coat the apples evenly.
- Cover and cook on high for 2 to 3 hours, stirring gently halfway through, until the apples are tender and the sauce has thickened.
- Serve warm as a side dish, dessert, or topping for pancakes, waffles, or ice cream.
Notes
For best flavor, use a mix of tart and sweet apples.
Cook on low for 4–5 hours for slightly firmer apples.
A splash of bourbon or a pinch of ground cloves can add deeper flavor.
Add chopped pecans at the end for extra texture.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Freeze in a freezer-safe container for up to 2 months and thaw overnight before reheating.
