3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
4 cups all-purpose flour, fluffed and leveled (500g)
For the Frosting:
1/2 cup unsalted butter
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and sour cream until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the baking soda, baking powder, salt, and flour.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a smooth dough forms.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges start to turn golden brown.
- Remove the cookies from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
For the Frosting:
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
- Remove from heat and stir in the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
- Once the cookies are completely cool, spread the frosting onto each cookie using a butter knife or offset spatula.
- Allow the frosting to set before serving.

Ensure the butter and eggs are at room temperature for easier mixing and a better cookie texture.
