Ingredients
8 oz linguine or spaghetti
1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
2 tablespoons olive oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 cup chicken or vegetable broth
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook Pasta: Cook pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside, reserving 1/2 cup of pasta water.
- Cook Shrimp: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant. Add shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Season with red pepper flakes, smoked paprika, cayenne, salt, and pepper. Remove shrimp and set aside.
- Make Sauce: In the same skillet, scrape up any brown bits. Let the liquid simmer for 2-3 minutes. Stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese, and cook for 2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Combine: Return shrimp to the skillet, add pasta, and toss everything together. Add reserved pasta water if necessary to adjust sauce consistency.
- Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
Adjust Heat: Add more cayenne or red pepper flakes if you prefer more heat.
Vegetable Add-ins: Spinach, bell peppers, or cherry tomatoes make excellent additions.
Protein Swap: Feel free to use chicken, scallops, or mussels instead of shrimp.
