Ingredients
1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)
4 oz cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 egg (for egg wash)
1 tablespoon milk (for egg wash)
Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface. Cut it into 4 equal squares or rectangles, depending on your preferred shape.
- In a small bowl, combine cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon juice. Beat until smooth and creamy.
- Spread a generous layer of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each puff pastry square, leaving a border around the edges.
- Top with sliced strawberries and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
- Fold the corners of the puff pastry over the filling to form a square or rectangle and gently press the edges to seal.
- Whisk together the egg and milk in a small bowl. Brush the pastry edges with the egg wash.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until the pastries are golden and puffed.
- Let them cool for a few minutes, then dust with powdered sugar if desired.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
Swap the strawberries for raspberries, blueberries, or blackberries for different fruit options.
Try adding lemon zest or cinnamon to the cream cheese filling for extra flavor.
For a vegan version, use dairy-free puff pastry and non-dairy cream cheese.
For a sweeter treat, drizzle a powdered sugar glaze on top after baking.
