Description

This Sweet Chili Pineapple Sauce is a flavorful combination of sweet, spicy, and tangy notes. Perfect for grilled meats, roasted veggies, or as a dipping sauce, it’s made with fresh pineapple, honey, soy sauce, and a touch of chili flakes. Quick and easy to make, this versatile sauce adds a tropical kick to any meal.

Ingredients

1 cup fresh pineapple, finely chopped

1/2 cup water

1/4 cup white vinegar

1/4 cup honey

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

2 garlic cloves, minced

2 teaspoons cornstarch

2 tablespoons water (for cornstarch slurry)

1 teaspoon red chili flakes (adjust to taste)

Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine the chopped pineapple, 1/2 cup water, vinegar, honey, soy sauce, ginger, and garlic. Bring to a simmer.

  2. Reduce heat and let simmer for 10 minutes until the pineapple softens.

  3. Mix the cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water to make a slurry. Stir into the simmering sauce.

  4. Add chili flakes and salt, and continue simmering for another 5 minutes until the sauce thickens.

  5. Remove from heat and allow the sauce to cool. It will continue to thicken as it cools.

Notes

Spicy Level: Adjust the chili flakes according to your heat preference.

Fruit Variations: You can experiment with mango or papaya for a different flavor twist.

Vegan Option: Substitute honey with maple syrup for a vegan-friendly version.

Storage: Store the sauce in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
