Description

This Chocolate Turtle Pie is the ultimate indulgence, blending a silky, rich chocolate filling with a buttery caramel layer and a crunchy pecan topping, all nestled inside a graham cracker crust.

Ingredients

1 pre-made graham cracker crust (9-inch)

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/4 cup butter

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1/4 cup light corn syrup

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 cups pecans, chopped

1/2 cup whipped cream (for topping, optional)

1/4 cup chocolate shavings (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.
  2. Add the semi-sweet chocolate chips and butter to the cream, stirring constantly until smooth and fully combined. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool for 10 minutes.
  3. Pour the chocolate mixture into the pre-made graham cracker crust and spread it evenly. Place in the refrigerator to chill for 2 hours, or until set.
  4. In another saucepan, combine the brown sugar, corn syrup, vanilla extract, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture starts to bubble.
  5. Add the chopped pecans to the caramel mixture and cook for 1-2 minutes until the nuts are coated and the caramel has thickened.
  6. Remove the caramel-pecan mixture from heat and let it cool for 5 minutes before pouring it over the chilled chocolate layer.
  7. Return the pie to the refrigerator and chill for an additional 1 hour, or until the caramel layer is firm.
  8. Before serving, top the pie with whipped cream and chocolate shavings, if desired.

Notes

Optional: Add a pinch of sea salt on top of the caramel layer for a sweet-and-salty twist.

For an even more indulgent pie, drizzle some extra melted chocolate on top.

Try substituting pecans with walnuts or almonds if desired.

The pie can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days, covered to prevent drying out.
