Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 pound ground pork or turkey

1 medium onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 (28 oz) can diced tomatoes

1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce

2 tablespoons tomato paste

1 (15 oz) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed

1 (15 oz) can black beans, drained and rinsed

1 cup beef broth

2 tablespoons chili powder

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon olive oil

Optional Toppings:

Shredded cheese

Sour cream

Chopped green onions

Tortilla chips

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef, ground pork (or turkey), and diced onion. Cook until meat is browned and onion is softened, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  2. Transfer the cooked meat mixture to your crockpot.
  3. Add diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, kidney beans, black beans, beef broth, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.
  4. Cover and cook:
    • Low: 6-8 hours
    • High: 3-4 hours
Stir occasionally to ensure flavors meld.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Serve hot with your favorite toppings.

Notes

Adjust Spice: Omit cayenne for milder chili or add jalapeños for extra heat.

Thicker Chili: Cook uncovered for the last 30 minutes to thicken.

Storage: Refrigerate for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
