Description

Creamy, garlicky white pizza sauce made with butter, milk, Parmesan, and herbs. Quick to make and perfect for pizza, pasta, or as a dip.

Ingredients

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 1/4 cups whole milk

1/4 teaspoon salt (or to taste)

1/8 teaspoon black pepper

2 garlic cloves, minced

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring constantly, to form a smooth roux.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk, blending smoothly without lumps.
  4. Cook and stir for 3 to 5 minutes until the mixture thickens.
  5. Add the salt, black pepper, and minced garlic. Let it simmer for 1 more minute.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in the Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning until smooth and creamy.
  7. Let the sauce cool slightly before using on pizza, pasta, or as a dip.

Notes

Add crushed red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.

Mix in mozzarella or provolone for extra cheesiness.

Reduce milk for a thicker, dip-style sauce.

Blend in sautéed mushrooms or spinach for more flavor and texture.

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.

Reheat gently on stove or in microwave, stirring and adding a splash of milk if needed.
