This rich, moist chocolate cake is studded with fresh strawberries and chocolate chips, making it a perfect treat for any special occasion. Topped with creamy frosting and extra strawberries, it’s a decadent delight that will impress your guests.

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 ¾ cups granulated sugar

¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 ½ teaspoons baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

2 large eggs

1 cup milk

½ cup vegetable oil

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup boiling water

1 cup sliced fresh strawberries

1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients, mixing until well combined.
  4. Slowly stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth and thin.
  5. Gently fold in the sliced strawberries and chocolate chips.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, frost with your favorite frosting and decorate with extra strawberries and chocolate drizzle.

Notes

Use ripe, fresh strawberries for the best flavor.

You can use frozen strawberries, but they may release more moisture.

For best results, let the cake sit at room temperature before serving.
