Ingredients
250 g butter (softened)
3/4 cup icing sugar (sifted)
1/2 cup custard powder
1 tsp vanilla essence
2 cups cake flour (sifted)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream softened butter and icing sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the vanilla essence.
- In another bowl, sift custard powder and cake flour. Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the butter mixture to form a soft dough.
- Roll dough into small balls and place on the tray. Flatten slightly with a fork in a crisscross pattern.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges turn golden.
- Cool completely on a wire rack before serving.
Notes
For a chocolate variation, replace 2 tbsp of custard powder with cocoa powder.
Add lemon zest for a citrusy twist or mix in finely chopped nuts for extra texture.
