Ingredients

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon sugar

1 teaspoon salt

2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)

1 cup warm water (110°F/45°C)

2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Toppings:

1/2 cup pizza sauce

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Toppings of your choice (pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, sausage, etc.)


Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
  3. On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.
  6. Punch down the dough and roll it out to your desired thickness on a floured surface.
  7. Transfer the rolled-out dough to a baking sheet or pizza peel. Spread pizza sauce evenly over the dough, sprinkle with mozzarella cheese, and add toppings.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and lightly browned.
  9. Allow the pizza to cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve.
