Description

Ingredients

1/2 cup salted butter, melted

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3/4 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/3 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 teaspoon sea salt flakes for topping


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until fully incorporated.
  4. Sift in flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until combined.
  5. Spread half the brownie batter evenly in the prepared pan.
  6. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the batter and swirl with a knife.
  7. Spread the remaining batter over the caramel layer and drizzle the rest of the caramel sauce on top. Swirl for a marbled effect.
  8. Sprinkle sea salt flakes over the surface.
  9. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until edges are set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs. Avoid overbaking.
  10. Cool completely in the pan before lifting out using the parchment paper overhang. Slice into squares and serve.

Notes

For extra gooey brownies, add an additional drizzle of caramel after baking.

Use a sharp knife to cut cleanly, and chill the brownies for 30 minutes beforehand for perfect slices.

Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
