Description

Air Fryer Filet Mignon is a quick and elegant steak dinner with a flavorful crust, tender center, and rich herb butter finish. It delivers steakhouse-style results with minimal effort.

Ingredients

2 filet mignon steaks

Olive oil

Salt

Black pepper

Garlic powder

Unsalted butter

Fresh rosemary

Fresh thyme

Instructions

  1. Remove the filet mignon steaks from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for 20–30 minutes.
  2. Pat the steaks thoroughly dry with paper towels.
  3. Lightly rub each steak with olive oil, then season all sides generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes.
  5. Arrange the steaks in the air fryer basket in a single layer with space between them for air circulation.
  6. Air fry for 5–6 minutes, then carefully flip the steaks.
  7. Place a small piece of unsalted butter on each filet and add fresh rosemary and thyme.
  8. Continue air frying for another 4–6 minutes, checking the internal temperature toward the end and cooking to your preferred doneness.
  9. Remove the steaks from the air fryer and let them rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Choose filet mignon steaks of similar thickness so they cook at approximately the same rate.

Use an instant-read meat thermometer to accurately monitor doneness, as cooking times vary by steak thickness and air fryer model.

For garlic butter, mix softened butter with minced garlic and optional chopped parsley.

For herb butter, combine softened butter with chopped rosemary, thyme, and parsley and spoon it over the cooked steaks.

For a pepper crust, increase the coarsely ground black pepper and press it onto the steaks before cooking.

For a spicy variation, add a small pinch of cayenne pepper or crushed red pepper to the seasoning.

Store cooled leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days.

Reheat in the air fryer at about 350°F (175°C) for a few minutes, checking frequently to prevent overcooking.

Keep leftover steaks whole rather than slicing them before storage to help retain moisture.
