Description
These candied frozen sour grapes are a refreshing, sweet, and tangy snack that mimics sour candy with a fruity twist. Easy to make with no cooking required, they are perfect for hot days or quick treats.
Ingredients
4 cups cleaned green grapes
1 cup organic cane sugar
2 limes, freshly squeezed
2 to 3 teaspoons citric acid (optional)
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Add the cleaned grapes to a bowl and pour the freshly squeezed lime juice over them. Stir until evenly coated.
- If desired, mix in the citric acid for extra sour flavor. Refrigerate the grapes for 10 minutes.
- Place the sugar in a separate bowl.
- Remove the grapes from the refrigerator and toss each one in the sugar until fully coated.
- Arrange the coated grapes in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Cover with plastic wrap and freeze for 2 to 3 hours until fully frozen.
- Transfer frozen grapes to an airtight container or zip-top bag for storage and enjoy as needed.
Notes
Use red or black grapes for a sweeter variation.
Skip citric acid for a more natural, mild tang.
Try lemon or orange juice instead of lime for different flavors.
Add citrus zest or flavored sugar for a unique twist.
Store in the freezer for up to 2 weeks.
Let sit at room temperature for 1–2 minutes if too hard before eating.
