Description

A creamy, refreshing chilled seafood salad made with tender shrimp, sweet lump crab, crisp vegetables, fresh dill, and a bright lemon-Dijon dressing. Perfect for a cold lunch, appetizer, or summer gathering.

Ingredients

Cooked shrimp, peeled and chopped

Lump crab meat

Mayonnaise

Sour cream

Fresh lemon juice

Dijon mustard

Celery, finely diced

Red onion, finely chopped

Fresh dill, chopped

Salt

Black pepper

Paprika

Instructions

  1. Add the mayonnaise, sour cream, fresh lemon juice, and Dijon mustard to a large mixing bowl. Stir until smooth and creamy.
  2. Add the chopped cooked shrimp, lump crab meat, finely diced celery, and chopped red onion.
  3. Gently fold the ingredients into the dressing, taking care to keep the larger pieces of crab intact.
  4. Season with salt, black pepper, and a pinch of paprika. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed.
  5. Fold in the chopped fresh dill until evenly distributed.
  6. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to chill and allow the flavors to blend.
  7. Serve cold on its own, over crisp lettuce, in sandwiches, or alongside crackers.

Notes

Drain the shrimp thoroughly and pat it dry if needed to prevent excess moisture from thinning the dressing.

Check the lump crab meat for shell pieces while keeping the larger pieces intact.

For a lighter dressing, replace part of the mayonnaise with additional sour cream or plain Greek yogurt.

Add diced cucumber, bell pepper, extra celery, or ripe avocado for variations in texture and flavor.

Fresh parsley, chives, or tarragon can replace or complement the dill.

For extra heat, add cayenne pepper, hot sauce, or finely chopped jalapeño.

For more citrus flavor, add fresh lemon zest.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consume within 3 to 4 days, provided the cooked seafood was fresh when the salad was prepared.

Do not freeze or reheat; this salad is best served chilled.
