Description

Chocolate Banana Oat Dessert Bars are rich, fudgy, and naturally sweetened with ripe bananas. Made with wholesome oats and cocoa powder, they are an easy healthy dessert or snack that feels indulgent while staying nutritious.

Ingredients

3 ripe bananas, mashed

2 cups rolled oats

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

1/2 cup dark chocolate chips, optional

1/2 cup chopped walnuts or almonds, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. Mash the bananas in a large bowl until smooth and creamy.
  3. Add the rolled oats, cocoa powder, baking powder, vanilla extract, and salt.
  4. Mix until fully combined and a thick chocolate batter forms.
  5. Let the mixture rest for 10 minutes so the oats absorb the moisture.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts if using.
  7. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish and level the top.
  8. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the center is set.
  9. Cool completely, then refrigerate for 1 hour before slicing and serving.

Notes

Add peanut butter or almond butter for extra richness.

Mix in shredded coconut for additional texture and flavor.

Substitute pecans for walnuts if desired.

Add a pinch of cinnamon or espresso powder to deepen the chocolate flavor.

Use dairy-free chocolate chips to keep the bars vegan.

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Freeze individually wrapped bars for up to 3 months.

Warm in the microwave for 10 to 15 seconds before serving if desired.
