Description

Fresh, vibrant, and full of flavor, this easy homemade salsa is a quick no-cook recipe perfect for taco nights, parties, and everyday snacking. Made with ripe tomatoes, cilantro, jalapeño, garlic, and lime juice, it becomes even more delicious after a short chill.

Ingredients

4 ripe tomatoes, roughly chopped

1/2 medium white onion, chopped

1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and chopped

2 cloves garlic

1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves

2 tablespoons fresh lime juice

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon ground cumin

Instructions

  1. Add the chopped tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, garlic, cilantro, lime juice, salt, and cumin to a food processor or blender.
  2. Pulse several times until the salsa reaches your preferred consistency. Avoid over-blending to prevent a watery texture.
  3. Taste and adjust the salt or lime juice as needed.
  4. Transfer the salsa to a bowl, cover, and refrigerate for 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. Stir before serving with tortilla chips, tacos, burritos, grilled meats, or your favorite Mexican-inspired dishes.

Notes

Leave some or all of the jalapeño seeds for a spicier salsa.

For a roasted version, roast the tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, and garlic before blending.

Add a small amount of chipotle in adobo for a smoky flavor.

Mix in diced mango, pineapple, or peach for a sweeter variation.

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days and stir before serving.

Fresh salsa is best not frozen, as tomatoes become watery after thawing.
