Description
Fresh Pico de Gallo is a bright and flavorful Mexican-style salsa made with ripe tomatoes, onion, cilantro, lime juice, and jalapeño. It is quick to prepare and perfect as a dip, topping, or side dish.
Ingredients
4 Roma tomatoes, diced
1 small white onion, finely diced
1 jalapeño, seeded and finely minced
1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Add the diced tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, and cilantro to a medium bowl.
- Pour in the fresh lime juice and season with salt and black pepper.
- Gently stir until all ingredients are evenly combined.
- Taste and adjust the salt or lime juice as desired.
- Serve immediately, or cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to allow the flavors to develop.
Notes
Add diced avocado for a creamier texture.
Use red onion instead of white onion for a sharper flavor.
Increase the jalapeño or add serrano pepper for extra heat.
Mix in diced cucumber for added freshness and crunch.
Add a pinch of cumin for a warm, earthy flavor.
Include diced mango or pineapple for a sweet and tangy variation.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Stir before serving, as the tomatoes may release liquid over time.
Do not freeze, as the vegetables will lose their texture.
