Ingredients
1 pound lean ground beef
1 pound Italian sausage
1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 large eggs
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
1 cup marinara sauce
Shredded mozzarella cheese (optional)
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a loaf pan or line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, Italian sausage, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, eggs, garlic, onion, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in the prepared pan or tray.
- Spread marinara sauce evenly over the top and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese if using.
- Bake for about 60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
- Remove from oven and let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
