Description
Creamy, savory, and pleasantly spicy, this Jalapeño Pumpkin Dip combines pumpkin, cream cheese, fresh jalapeño, smoky spices, lime, and herbs for an easy no-cook appetizer.
Ingredients
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sour cream
1 cup pumpkin puree
1 fresh jalapeño, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon lime juice
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon honey, optional
2 tablespoons fresh cilantro or parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Place the softened cream cheese and sour cream in a medium mixing bowl and whisk until smooth and creamy.
- Add the pumpkin puree and stir until fully incorporated and evenly orange.
- Mix in the minced garlic, chopped jalapeño, lime juice, and olive oil until evenly distributed.
- Season with salt, black pepper, ground cumin, and smoked paprika. Taste and adjust the seasoning as desired.
- For a slightly sweeter contrast, stir in the optional honey, adding it gradually to taste.
- Fold in the chopped cilantro or parsley.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Stir again before serving and serve chilled with tortilla chips, crackers, pita chips, toasted bread, or fresh vegetables.
Notes
Use plain pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling, which contains added sugar and dessert spices.
For a milder dip, remove the jalapeño seeds and membranes. For more heat, leave some intact or add extra jalapeño.
For extra smoky flavor, add more smoked paprika or a small pinch of chipotle powder.
Add extra lime juice and cilantro for a brighter, fresher flavor.
Omit the honey for an entirely savory dip or increase it slightly for more sweetness.
Add extra sour cream for a softer consistency or more cream cheese for a thicker spread.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days and stir well before serving.
Serve with tortilla chips, pita chips, crackers, toasted bread, or crisp vegetables.
