Ingredients
4 large eggs
1 cup whole milk
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch of salt
8 slices thick-cut bread (such as brioche or challah)
2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl until smooth and well combined.
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and add butter to coat the surface.
- Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, soaking briefly on each side without oversaturating.
- Place the soaked bread onto the hot skillet and cook for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Add more butter as needed and repeat with remaining slices.
- Serve warm with maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh fruit as desired.
Notes
Use thick-cut bread like brioche or challah for best texture.
Substitute milk with almond or oat milk for a dairy-free option.
Replace part of the milk with cream for a richer flavor.
Add orange zest or almond extract for variation.
Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
Reheat in a skillet or toaster oven to maintain crispness.
